Sun worshippers and others are doing it.......

Summer Solstice.....longest day of the year....start of summer.....
.Premier jour de l'été. Doodle de Takashi Murakami, 2011....everybody's doing it, and not satisfied with that, the French are really making it the longest day in the year, at least for me.....They are also celebrating their 30th "Fête de la Musique" today - all day long, but particularly this evening..... http://www.fete-musique.com/..
....Now I don't have a problem with this..seems that the idea has been taken up all over the World, Canada, Germany, Scandinavia and others are doing it as well, but you have to figure out what music is, and some of the stuff that is "celebrated" goes just a bit out of line...people who are enthousiastic - but can't sing - can't play instruments except flatly! Others who can only do these things if they're full of pastis and in certain cases full of other products!
My own participation will be lying in bed this evening and listening to a cacaphony of noise....they call it music....until 3-4am....Let me tell you why!
From around midday it starts....The Protestant "Temple" gets off the ground with choir pieces, rapidly followed by each individual bar or café throwing their contribution in. Some are rather unexpected:  Mainly 3 cafés make a medley of undecipherable noise, all mixed up - and of course the Town Hall (La Mairie) has to do its bit as well, swiftly followed by the "Eglise" - the "Drummers School" - the "Rap" places, the schools, and a dozen different other places...It's quite hot, as usual, so around midnight - with windows open, I have the annual pleasure of lying on my bed listening to a total cocktail of all this stuff mixed together.....Have you ever heard all the different types of music imaginable (and then some) all mixed up and each trying to outdo the other in loudness - length of the piece and flat notes.....?
Mums and Dads proudly watch over their siblings, hammering the tight skins of drums......They see a budding music millionaire, I see and hear a wild frantic kid making - legally - an awful lot of noise....
Now, my question is simple......If I put up with all this until 4/5am, how come they can't put up with my radio being played, decently, at 6/7am.....does the pastis have something to do with it?
Here are a few photos taken over the past few years.....
In front of the Town Hall.      In front of the Eglise.....
..in front   of the Café.....and there are another 3 or 4 of them.......!

HEY - Can I go to sleep now........?
....It's time.....!
