Feria at Vauvert 2007 14-17 June 2007
Yes, bull fighting isn't limited to Spain. Ferias happen here at Nimes, at Beziers, and in many other places in the S of France.
Whereas the normal facon here is to try and get a ring off the bull's horn (Jeu Camarguaises), each ring having a defined value in cash for the player, in the "Ferias" the Bull is "mis au morte" - something which I'm not so happy with, but even the most timid of people here go "barmy" at the sight! Maybe that's why I don't like it!
Animals are being slaughtered daily, for our needs, but there seems to be a difference somehow - maybe it's the "humane slaughtering" (stupid words really!) in a slaughter house which makes the difference!
The end is the same, bull dead, bull's meat available in the local butcher's shop for the famous Camarguaise stew called "Gardienne de Taureau" which is delicious, that's true!
THERE ARE NO IMAGES OF BULL KILLING ON THIS VIDEO - in fact this was a competition for novice matadors, male and female, who will probably end up in the Arenas of Madrid etc and not on the butcher's slab!
