If at first..............

Image
I’m not giving up so easily!        If at first you don’t succeed then try and try again and again! With changes to HTML maybe I’ll get there! Sorry to bother you all, but it’ll all be some much nicer in the end! This would have been a photo of "Tundra in Winter" and my signature card - the big question is it either of them?     If not, I'm getting out!   iwmpop (Marquis du Galipot)

Its him again!!

Image
It's him AGAIN! Mr A. NONY. MOUSE has been at it again. Something to do with the GILLINGHAM post, so I replied to his comment,as Mr le Marquis ought to, and bugger me - he went at it again! Mind you, I must agree with what he says in the 3rd comment, and finally he has realised the truth! All this does mean that A. NONY. MOUSE is among you other well-informed readers, 'cos he got down as far as the Gillingham blog at least. Don't know if he saw as far as the excessive Tinkerbelle photo! Never mind, to be handsome and intelligent isn't given to everyone! It does so make life more difficult, warding off the attacks of squealing females!

Missing photos-free Sunday!

Image
Remember Friday night and Saturday? I do! Blogger have now told me they had a few problems - thanks a lot! I've got to finish it off now, with a couple of illustrations you were entitled to, but never got! If it doesn't work AGAIN, I'm going to buy Google Blogger, with your help, we must be able to get the few pennies needed together - I've got around 15euros, which should help! These photos passed, I'm off to have a well-earned Sunday calm-yep, no more Blogs for a while!! Sorry if you are all so disappointed, I can hear your sighs from here! This is the famous matjes herring starter (entree) well worth the bother! These gentle creatures have a few things going against them - they breed enormously, eat almost anything, are very tasty, and we use 99.9% to nourish, wash, perfume etc ourselves! "Cotes de porc a la creme" on the hoof! My next "cuisine" article will deal with (I hope) what many people are frightened of - "Fish cookery" real

Image
a german fraulein maybe Originally uploaded by iwmpop . In spite of the photo, this is IMPORTANT! I've spent ages looking for an adress to give you all to enter, easily, to all the photos and wonderworld both of my own photos, and those of thousands of others! I've found it!! Up to you to try it now!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/iwmpop/ or http://www.flickr.com/people/iwmpop/ If you prefer, I've put it in the title of the article above. Just click on the title "pop's flickr photos" and wait until the page opens. I don't think you will regret it! (I update/add photos every month more than once so there is always something new!) Have fun and all the best.

Mornin' all!

Image
Mornin' all! Up all night, but I've got at least 3 photos in with the text! The others are scattered around, and some are repeated! Never mind, I promise to get better next time around, but for the moment, it'll do you all good to work a little! If chippie gets busy as he tells me on the Sunday, he'll haveto go right down to beyond Brazil GP1 to work his way up, otherwise he will not be as informed as everybody else! Wacky-Backy tells me that his golf handicap has gone DOWN to 36 - or did I get that wrong? He also tells me he is running scared since Mrs Wacky-Backy told him she was saving up all her pennies to buy NEW golf clubs! GOOD LUCK! Just to prove it works now: New ideas for photos at the seaside. Whatever happened to the donkeys, have they become mechanical monsters?
Image
Well boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, friends and enemies, I've tried the lot, but I can't get the photos and text to go through together! It is now around 2am, my cat is telling me that I'm tired and that it is time to go to bed with her, so I'll give it a last go with the normal picture up/down loader, and if not then I'll have to contact Mr Blogger tomorrow! Even if it works now, I'm not going to re-do the article "Menu 1" takes too long! So, lets see if anything is working: My favourite digestive - but nobody can afford it now! MY GOD! I give up - the thing is working now!! GOOD NIGHT TO YOU ALL! This is the last one!!

Menu 1

Image
The best in the world, but unpayable! Lavazza truly is the best (and they aren't even paying me!) Great desserts -naturally ! Menu 1 (continued) As I recall, we were just finishing off the Aperitifs, and had done our entrée, which was now in the fridge, awaiting its bread and unsalted butter to tickle our palates. Here is (I hope) the photo which was meant to go with it! (I forgot to mention the raw onion rings!) A wine to go with this would be an Alsace white, dry and crisp, chilled but not frozen! Other whites of a dry type would be acceptable. Matjes-heringe. Cotelettes or Escalope de porc a la crème. (Pork chop or escalope in cream sauce) This also is a simple dish. You see, since this is the first menu, I’m keeping it really simple. I needed the following: 1 pork escalope or chop, 1 eschalote or small onion chopped, 1 garlic clove crushed and chopped, butter or margarine for frying (not oil), salt and pepper preferably from the grinders, either crème fraiche, or liquid

Oh dea what could the matter be?

Image
I apologise to everybody, Mr B Gates, Google, Blogger, and those fervent readers out there! Here are some of the photos (illustrations) which should have come with the Menu 1 article! I'm still working on it to get the original article icluding photos through! I thought that maybe apologising to the 3 great names above would help! If it doesn't, it could well be DIVORCE, Mr Billy Googly Blogger!!

Menu 1.(PART I )

EXTRA ON TABLE: OIL,VINEGAR or better still, a light french dressing "vinaigrette". BLOGGER AND I ARE HAVING PROBLEMS - PLEASE MOVE DOWN THE PAGE TO THE START OF TEXT! CME BACK Mr. GATES, sir, ALL IS FORGIVEN!! Here we go, then - to your stoves! Don't forget what was said about aperitifs! 1). MATJESHERING: (Dutch and German and Kosher). ENTREE. This is a really simple thing to do. You have to find the place in your town where you can buy the fish. Matjes are young herring filets (no bones), normally salt-preserved, laid in oil, packed and sold. In Holland and Germany, it used to be the attraction whilst shopping, to select a matjes from the wooden barrel outside the shop, pay for it, and eat it there and then, letting it slowly descend from a great height into your mouth and YUM-YUM. Nowadays, I suspect the "shopping-snack" is a hamburger! Great shame! If you can't find matjes, you can always use the other herring products (vaacuum packed only)but wash them

Introduction to "Monthly menu" (nr. 1) for October 2005

Image
This being the first of its kind, I must preface the actual menu with a few words dealing with my problems within this area. You see, I have to try and make it right to everyone, different religions, different geographical zones, different tastes (no poultry, right?), as well as availability problems (in Japan it is difficult to get the flour to make German knoedels, for example, and you may be frowned upon in Tel-Aviv, if you ask for pork suet!) As we all know, God is an American, and call himself (for the moment) Bill Gates, so we may well get through with few problems. All the ingredients are interchangeable - that means pork can be changed for veal, or even for poultry etc., but please don't try interchanging things to the point of putting a pork chop in your coffee, and saying it's my fault! It goes without saying (unless stated) that GOOD bread (french, preferably) and other staples, like salt, pepper mills, mustard are all available on the table, but NO KETCHUP, CATSUP,

CLICK ONTO TITLE FOR LATEST NEWS!!!! This is GILLINGHAM, KENT- On the Thames estuary, once upon a time a thriving eel-industry, now jellied, now become a sort of "dead-dormitory" place, where nothing ever happens until POMPEY come. A simple, peace-loving little village, not really too far away from Portsmouth. GILLINGHAM,GILLINGHAM,GILLINGHAM,GILLINGHAM. But I mustn't repeat myself, my mate chippie might get upset if I mention GILLINGHAM too often!!!!!!!!
