Vauvert, France Fifteen years ago, on this day, my wife Kathleen (née Odell) left this sad Planet. I still miss her and her presence. circa 1988 - Meze, France 1993-Loerrach, Germany circa 1968 - London Her absence has been, and is still, the determinating factor in my life over the past 15 years. Danger! Man at work!

Once upon a time there was no need to search for "bloomers" or rudeness from Politicians. They were there, present, but unspoken and therefore unreported. One simply knew what a Churchill or a De Gaulle thought about the electors, privately, and contented oneself with the official statements, which said little. Not very democratic or open, one could say, but actually infinately better than the recent "changes" made by the French President Sarkozy. "Modernize" things, said this arrogant personnage, and proceeded to do so! Once divorced, he immediately divorced a second time, just 3 months or so in Office, and to thoroughly "modernize" the whole thing, got married to wife Nr 3 just 3 weeks after the second divorce! Decidedly he likes to do things in "three's"! Poor lady, I suppose she must love him, after all we ARE in France, where matters of the "coeur" are slightly different! It's petty cash! Why not ban them from selling their stuff for a couple of years? C'a l'air d'être beaucoup, mais pour Microsoft c'est deux fois rien! Pourquoi pas faire l'interdiction de vente pendant 1 an ou deux? February 27, 2008 3:56 AM PST EU slaps Microsoft with $1.35 billion fine Posted by Mike Ricciuti |  45 comments   This post was updated at 7:28 a.m. PST, with additional reporting provided by CNET News.com 's Dawn Kawamoto. European Union regulators on Wednesday fined Microsoft a record 899 million euros, or $1.35 billion, for failing to comply with sanctions. The fine specifically addresses sanctions over the pricing structure Microsoft had set for licensing of its interoperability protocols and patents. The pricing issue is the last of three parts of the Commission

SKYPE - pype and flyte!

I know that quite a few of you actually use this "once upon a time great service". This little article is really just an update on a changing situation with this programme that I also used to be a part of It appears that "Skype" has been bought up by "e-bay" (that well known auction site, with little or no scruples - ethically or morally) which I understand to be Swiss. Since the advent of e-bay, things seem to be a little strange at Skype. For me it all started when I got a message asking me to "update my details" or I would be unable to use my account! Then another message stating " we have changed your skype account currency from Euros to US$ as requested" Then another message stating " Skype now uses Automatic Top up for accounts when the balance is less than 2.00euros" All this intrigued me, and one of these messages was actually found in my "Spam" box, very susceptible to being deleted without being seen! Muck and money!

You all know those guys (and some women) who are always complaining. Weather's been too wet, too warm, too cold, too dry, too everything. Generally installed at the local market in their largish, newish Mercedes-Benz, or sitting atop of a newish, shiny tractor (many of them with air conditioning and pollen filters nowadays) it seems that nothing is right with the world of Agriculture. Although there are doubtless many who don't make fame or fortune, and many others (particularly in Britain) who have been - or will be - hit by some blight or other, ranging from mad cow to poultry flu, life isn't all "moody blues" in the Agricultural scene, These figures have been released by the Central Agricultural Office of the European Community, and represent the "averages" within the EU, therefore also including Britain. It's interesting to have an idea of the average annual income of Agriculturers. Just to give a comparison point, the EU also informs me that th

Hecky thump..this is a bit of all right!

Since the "other lot" just had a musical picture show, I suppose it's only right that those of you who don't have the good taste to visit "www,vauvertvillage.blogspot.com " should be punished with one of your own! Here it is!................Don't forget to turn your speakers on, or I've done half of it for nothing! With the best wishes of mr le marquis (iwmpop) - and, have a nice weekend!

Again?!

No - it's not an orange! It's a moon! OUR Moon! The moon that is going to put on a show early tomorrow morning- a rare event, again! I can never figure out WHY these displays are always planned so late or early-Jeeez, can't we arrange a PRIME viewing time? I always miss them, even after hours of patient planning, either I fall asleep, and have to watch the show on the TV News next day, or (normally) when I look up at the sky all I see is this: And I don't live in Manchester, England! It seems that this is the reason for it all. Don't ask me, please, what the sun is doing in the sky at that time of the morning (between 3am and 5,45am), but it must be, or you wouldn't get a shadow, and you wouldn't see a damned thing - just like me! Anyway - if you stay up, don't make the orangey red moon responsible for your similarly coloured eyes in the morning!

*************************************** As you can see, this is a combined page, translated by Google from the original in French page by iwmpop. I simply cannot be bothered to waste any more time on the issue, and retyping the whole thing into English is too boring! The sense is given in any case by this "translation". It also gives you an opportunity to see the quality of the Google service, at the moment one always has to correct it, as with all the other "expensive" translation programmes, but it's FREE and getting better all the time! Translated version of http://iwmpop.googlepages.com/ahoui-lar%C3%A9putation! Ah oui-La réputation! Oh yes-The
