Mrs Kathleen Mitchell (nee Odell)

Mrs Kathleen Mitchell (née Odell) - SRN,RCN. 7 March 1947 - 3 March 1993 Kathleen Mitchell was a dedicated nurse, wife and friend. It's 16 years ago, and I still miss her presence and support enormously. This year of 2009 is a particularly sad occasion, with the passing away of my sister Mrs Ruth Mitchell-Pitts in February. There is no doubt that the early months of each new year are a testing and difficult time, but somehow you have to find the strength to continue. Kate was well known in the German and French communities, and I recall with great pleasure, as Kate did also, the numerous occasions we had to participate in Community life in both countries. Sun or shadow, heat or chill, those of us left behind can only hold those departed in our minds - as they were. Surely, from this year onwards, this period will always be associated particularly with those two people who were torn, brutally, at such early ages from us - for no apparant reason o

Dah-Dah-Dah-Boom........!

Ah - the good old "BEEB" I get all the info, but rarely have the time to listen! They used to have a system with which you could re-play really OLD things, like "HHHHancock's Half Hour" or "Dads Army" etc... Must have a look in and see if it still exists! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Email this to a friend | View Online Version | Schedules and frequencies | Documentary archive Welcome, Ian Mitchell to your weekly edition of the BBC World Service Email Network. Mouldy oldie...!

Image
(me!) I'm just getting all my old bits and pieces together, and I came across this, and a lot of others. I thought I'd publish it so you know what pleasures may await you - in a distant future....! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> As I recall, I was getting nowhere very fast with my story, so let’s go back to a district called “College” near Paisley in Scotland, around October 1946. This is Scotland in October, at the end of October indeed. There is no question of “planet warming” gases heating us up, too early – the industrials haven’t really got going, and so I decided to get myself born! Actually, I don’t recall exactly, but I think I didn’t have a great deal of choice in the matter, or I would without question have chosen a different place, a different family and a different moment to set head (it seems every baby puts

Shopping again...?

Image
My - am I finding out things for you - and for me. OK - shopping for groceries isn't something most men like to do, I don't mind, and in a 1 person household, someone's got to do it! Therefore - I might as well be up to date with all the tips! An American article, from Readers Digest, but both articles can be applied "world-wide" - except maybe in China or Japan, where you don't buy anything...! Article 1 you can read by clicking on the title of this article, and article 2 by copying this address to your address bar: http://www.rd.com/living-healthy/18-more-tips-from-your-grocer/article119347.html I often wondered why the milk always went sour after only using half of the bottle.....! This stuff is fresh, but they're not allowed to sell it to us - it might be contaminated.....! Great life - huh...?

Microsoft - problems with the brass....

Image
Here's a story about "GENUINE ADVANTAGE" from Microsoft! It seems that Microsoft are feeling the pinch! http://news.cnet.com/8301-10805_3-10169119-75.html?tag=nl.e70 (Full story) Microsoft wants refund from some laid-off workers Software giant sends a letter to some of the 1,400 employees it laid off last month letting them know they were overcompensated and that it would like the money back. Then I got this enlightening e-mail from Microsoft: Si les images ne s’affichent pas c’est normal. Il n’y en a pas. The French means:"if there are no images shown, that's because there aren't any - find them yourself!" Nous avons préféré vous laisser découvrir par vous même les possibilités d’Expression Web . Monday's lunch is simple...

Image
It's true, after the Weekend, Monday lunch is kept simple. A little glass as apero, some pasta "bolognese" with lots of onions and garlic, a touch of cheese, all (apart from the apero) washed down with a little Italian red (good for the digestion, bad for the health, figure that one out!!). Then off for the Doctor prescribed "siesta" up until 17hrs - then an expresso coffee. All very, very bad for everything, so why am I still here...? Really, this article is just to let you know that I AM still here....... (iwmpop) mr le Marquis. pasta.jpg Garli-ail.jpg champagne flute.jpg Camembert chatelain.jpg
