Some stuff I found....don't know who this cric is, only one I know called "Keith" is a "Keefer".....could it be the same guy.....? Anyhow....he seems to be like you....he's got taste!   Languedoc-Roussillon  |  Keith Eckstein  June 5, 2010 |    Comments (3) Wolfgang’s Story I recently reviewed  Chez Mr. le Marquis du Galipot  and noted that it contains one of the greatest posts that I have seen on any blog (Life in France type blogs or otherwise) ever. A post that details someone’s true story; a post written with compassion and in a style that reminded me of some of Bruce Chatwin’s shorter pieces. I asked the owner of Chez Mr. le Marquis du Galipot (a man who calls himself IWMPOP for some strange reason that you will have to read the review to understand) for permission to re-publish the post here and he very kindly agreed. So, here it is (courtesy of  http://marquisdugalipot.blogspot.com )….. Read more »   Languedoc-Roussillon  |  K

Trojan horses.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greece Greece.....when we talk about this country, it's images like the above that automatically spring to mind. Phrases like "the cradle of Democracy" but also "Trojan Horse" also spring to mind. Flag National emblem and you should be able to "sing-along" here: Anthem :  " Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Ἐλευθερίαν Ýmnos is tin Eleftherían Hymn to Liberty 1 " Now, I've never been to this country, one of the few in Europe I haven't been to, so in view of all the stuff being said about Greece and the Greeks, I thought it was time to find out more. Firstly the language. This is not something up my street...all languages which are based on different Alphabets are somewhat more daunting to learn. You have to start with just the simple letters - learning what they are, and in the case of Greece, this is even more strange since Latin and other based languages actually use a Greek word, transformed so we can u

London - when one could afford it....!

Untitled document Untitled document FRIDAY, MARCH 04, 2005 - EDITED JUNE 2011 Hungerford Bridge (Part III) and last. Somehow the nights were getting longer and longer, even for London's deepest winter. Things like Haendel's "Messiah" were being practiced, produced and performed all over, so the proof that Christmas was near was evident.  (of course "George" was never scruffy and NEVER spilt the wine!) The glass paradise of the Royal Festival Hall resounded with this music, but so did many other places, and slowly but surely the 'new' novelty (it came around every year) was wearing thin. George didn't seem to be aware of seasons, festivals or other such mundane things, maybe the passing of time in the Gordon's cellars made such things unimportant, and so much the more startled were we (my mentor Bill and myself) when suddenly, one evening, as we were on the point of leaving, to hear Ge

Success stories that are nice!

Image
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatmire_Bajramaj There are many success stories that are capable of making anybody who is unhappy living in their own system and country feel quite happy to do so at the end! This is one of them.....From Albanian Asylum seeker to Female Soccer Champion of Europe (and possibly of the World for a second time, in a couple of weeksIn 1993 ) from the age of around 5 up to today's "old lady" of 23....! Along the way, between learning the German language and English, she took time to develop and become an attractive young woman....   ..and a damned good player of the "Great Game".... I was privileged to see a documentary programme on German television, about her long and winding road to where she is today, and I was frankly impressed by this "still young" lady's achievements, even before she reached her sporting peak, or at least the start of it.   ..In 1993, her parents, Albanians from Kosovo decided to try to get out o

High Finance....again!

...and it's not only Wall St.,  -  but also! It's not so long back - in April this year that I did a little piece on my expert subject....."High Finance". I understand so much about it that nobody can beat me, I'm a wizard, I'm a specialist - I'm a liar....Here is the link to my original article:  http://marquisdugalipot.blogspot.com/2011/04/my-high-finance-tipshot-off-pressi.html First of all, let's get it right.  There is nothing, absolutely nothing, "high" about this subject, except the smell. It is the lowest of the low, and the people who work in it are the same. Many of them are even worse than those other modern day gangsters - dentists...don't believe a word of this type of headline..... because they NEVER do anything decent....ever. They demand and expect to get....respect! Respect from the people they are cheating and ruining on a daily basis. You all know what this represents  ..and who could have respect for this? I re

Tooter needed......!

Seems to me that a "tooter" is needed to get "da show on da road".....hey - Ah know one......wonder if he's free....
