Today is apparantly World Peace Day. This is Googles' Doodle , and it's sort of ironic that there are only 12-15 wars going on today, plus a couple of hundred 'insurgences'.....! around  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ongoing_military_conflicts    (red areas are major wars with more than 1,000 deaths per year - yellow 'minor' conflicts with fewer than 1000 deaths/year!) - As at October 2012 By far the most destructive is the following....followed by the still active most destructive....... 1945 Korean Conflict Asia   North Korea   South Korea 4,500,000+ [36] 2 [37] 1 [38] 1978 Conflict in Afghanistan (1978–present) Middle East   Afghanistan 1,405,111-2,084,468 [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] 8,398+ [11] [12] And we celebrate World Peace Day..........? Aggressive - Ambitious - Competitive....?

Watching European football last night, I was surprised not to have seen a few of these red coloured cards. I can assure you, if a player was to press his face so close to mine, obviously emitting words of no beauty, he would not stay on the playing field, and I would not care one jot nor tittle if that player was earning thousands of euros or pounds sterling , per week! An early shower works wonders,   and he doesn't even get a cut in salary...! Many, indeed the majority of players are people who respect both referees, opponents and the rules of the game, but some don't, in spite of being supposed 'examples' to youth how to live your life! A referee doesn't often want to give these cards but is forced to. The better referees have the ability to 'nip in the bud' any form of explosions, get themselves a reputation as being good and the players - even the 'naughty' ones just don't try it on! Some of them send shivers up your spine   and others

The time of year.....

It's getting cooler in the mornings, so cafe on the terrasse is becoming rarer but a glass at the Cafe is still allowed and watching the French go about their daily tasks as well Whilst others, elsewhere, pass their time in doing silly things, Chocolate biscuits and....tea! http://www.itv.com/news/story/2013-09-17/prince-harry-walking-with-the-wounded-south-pole/ Even if the 'hardy Royals' enjoy this kind of pastime, it is definately not my cup of tea! The times they are a'changing - but then they do every year, and I suppose we have little to complain about. Right now, the mornings are taking a slight chill to them, today, at 7am it was only 18C, and I was cold!  Of course, it doesn't help when a certain person can only sleep with ventilators on and windows wide open.....! True, I, like many others, am probably spoiled, being used to higher temperatures all year round than in the Scottish highlands, but then - that's why I left there so long ago

What's your problem....?

I am in the relatively fortunate position of having access to 3 systems of Computing.....the one above, and in second place   the 3rd one is recent, and I use it when travelling, because of the size 'Chromebook o/s" and the fact that it is based on all the apps from Google, mainly free, plus thousands of other apps also free.   I understand relatively well these 3 systems, but there are always little problems that often have nothing to do with the system - like on Facebook - where these 'wizzkids' are always changing something - then taking it off again, leaving you searching in vain for what you want. It would be nice if they could just make sure whatever it is works, then LEAVE IT ALONE.....!! Right now, I have one of these problems, with BLOGGER, the editor which allows you to write/edit/delete on your own Blogsites. Whether this is another one of those things between Windows and other systems I don't know, but I can open the editor on Linux (which I'm usi
