Warning.....!

WARNING........! There have been several postings of messages and articles made on my Weblog Sites coming from unknown sources, giving the address:   http://priorismanotes.net/topic/??Microsoft.html  - and others! (slightly changed by the author to avoid the link opening should people click on it, by accident) DO NOT TRY TO OPEN ANY LINKS OF THIS NATURE - the author cannot beleive that Microsoft would make such an obvious display of "password attack" therefore it is probable that such links in messages lead to "malware" or virus plagued sites! DO NOT CLICK OR COPY/PASTE THESE LINKS....! NEVER OPEN ANY LINKS YOU DON'T HAVE CONFIDENCE IN.....! You have been warned! Password and other security measures have been taken.  iwmpop (mrlemarquis)        30 Jan 2010.

Windows once upon a time....!

Still watching out for you........! [ http://www.infopackets.com/news/software/windows_tips/2010/20100127_win7_upgrade_guide_from_outlook_express_to_thunderbird.htm ] Image via CrunchBase I'm (trying) to change to Linux SLOED, and other have gone to Macs, but there must be a lot of you out there who have bought Windows 7. I still interest myself for Windows, who knows when, and with what, I may have to "modernize" my laptop...if XP dies! I don't go into enormous detail, but when I  see something interesting, I read it and pass it on! Image via Wikipedia Image via Wikipedia This one interests me a lot - OutlookExpress was one of the most interesting and useful aspects of Windows, and now...? http://www.infopackets.com/news/software/windows_tips/2010/20100127_win7_upgrade_guide_from_outlook_express_to_thunderbird.htm   (You can read the whole page here) ************* " Dear Dennis, I finally made the plunge to Win7 , thanks to your

No-it's not the end of mr le marquis- far from it!

(A long time ago!) Unfortunately I have been obliged, today, to stop my "Mr le Marquis" websites , with  "Webspawner.com" This was no fault of theirs, but due to a somewhat failing health and with a lot of other things forcibly taking up my time, I no longer felt capable of doing the Sites justice. Should you go to these sites now, you will only see the latest "free" pages, and these will not be updated or edited. No - it's not the end of "mr le marquis" - the 3 Google Blogs will continue, and the "Google Site" at:         https://sites.google.com/site/ianwmitchellswebsite/   will carry on as the sort of publishing centre of many "scribbles" and longer articles - go have a look if you've never been! The photo pages also are still in place, and will be updated if and when time allows, and you can still go to:    http://iwmpop.multiply.com/  where you'll find links to all these things, and play some nice mus

Passwords- change 'em if it's here...!

Image via Wikipedia Couldn't resist it! Your password here...?  CHANGE IT! (click on the link or the title for the whole article!)  http://www.sophos.com/blogs/gc/g/2010/01/22/top-20-website-passwords/    Top 20 website passwords you shouldn't be using The folks at Imperva have released a report examining the 32 million passwords that were exposed in a breach of the RockYou website last year. What they discovered (and it matches the findings of other studies conducted in the past) is that human beings are very bad at choosing hard-to-guess passwords. Here are the top 20 passwords that RockYou users had chosen: 123456 12345 123456789 Password iloveyou princess rockyou 1234567 12345678 abc123 Nicole Daniel babygirl monkey Jessica Lovely michael Ashley 654321 Qwerty Let me say this loud and clear: choosing an easy-to-guess password is reckless. Thinking that no-one else will have thought of a password like "123456" is insane. Choosing a dictionary word l

Well!

Well! Linux is there! Arrived, and with it - problems! Just like the early Windows days, I think I'm giving it credit  for being much more intelligence than it actually has! First thing I noticed is that it isn't called Linux amongst the initiated, it's called "SLED"! Yes- I also know "SLED" as a derivative in some form or other of "SLEDGE" as  a means of moving over snow, and it's not far away from this definition - very slippery and slidy, Maybe (almost certainly) it's me - once I get more practice in, it MAY just be OK! Of course, it didn't (and still doesn't) help that the people I bought the machine from are, as usual, twisters! They don't tell you that you're starting off with a thing called SLED 10 - SP1 which dates back some 5 or 6 years! It's almost like getting a good deal on a new PC from Windows, and finding out that it's running on WIN 98! All the possible updates are there - they are p

Useless information for the weekend!

It's almost the weekend again, and here is an article containing totally useless information for you! Mind you - if you can figure it out, then you may spend a more relaxed weekend - at least facially....! Of the 36 muscles used to create facial expressions, only a fraction are used in smiling. The precise number involved can vary, depending on an assortment of factors. Some people, for example, argue that eye crinkles are part of a genuine smile, and that therefore the muscles involved in this activity should be considered part of the number of muscles required to smile. Researchers have also discovered that people from different areas of the world smile differently, although they may use many of the same muscles. Different types of smiles have also been extensively documented, ranging from the zygomatic or genuine to the utterly fake. People make smile-like expressions for a variety of reasons and in an assortment of ways, and each requires slightly different muscle mov

Friendly little bugger - ain't I...! A long time ago I advised you to change browsers, so if you didn't, you didn't beleive me, and that's not nice!  "I TOLD YOU SO....."! Quieter-here's one of the reasons...!

Image via Wikipedia http://www.linux.com/news/software/ applications/8261-note-to-new-linux-users-no-antivirus-needed -needed     (Just click here to read the good news). If it's quieter on my sites at the moment, there are various reasons. The above link is one of them! Apart from fractured ribs, making creativity and typing suffer(!), I have also made the plunge into the world of "LINUX operating systems " and I've now got to figure it out! Learn, learn, learn! Fed up with Microsoft and Windows prices and errors and permanent updates, I did it! Of course - I kept one PC working on WIN XP - just in case, but I hope I will be able to relegate it to the absolute necessary! An immediate advantage of Linux , apart from the fact that it has everything Windows has but for FREE, is in the above link - no anti-virus programmes playing silly games with me and my equipment. Sophos enews (18 January 2010)

Image
If I publish this article, containing reports about various problems you may meet on your travels around the WWW. and the Internet, and which comes from "Sophos.com" (go there and subscribe to get the news) it's because I've realised that there are many more bad people out there than I thought. I've started, today, to play around with "Linux" and I have realised there is a long way to go before people accept that everybody has a right to use things like the Internet, without being automatically exposed to all sorts of abnormal situations. I am not naive, and I've had my "moments" in my life, but it is shockingly obvious that a large percentage of all types of villains, gangsters, thieves, fraudsters...and others have "educated" themselves, and now prefer to menace or defraude others in a "peaceful" manner - no guns, no physical violence, just clever little bits of text on an Internet page! Good or bad deve
