Yes, here in France, this a "jour férié" ...but I ask myself how many people nowadays know why, without being told or reminded... ..A lot of people nowadays have little or no idea what it's all about...it's another day off work, so it must be something to celebrate....Just how or why one should celebrate war is another question, but of course it's not a celebration of war, it's the celebration of the end of a war or wars.
