Image via Wikipedia Lots of new things..... When you change operating systems , when you get out of the clutches of Microsoft , Windows , Bill Gates and all the rest of the graspers, and when you move over to something as terribly complicated as "UBUNTU" (I'm only saying that to frighten you all away) so expensive that your Bank Manager is almost tempted to say "Good Morning" to you (UBUNTU is free) then you suddenly find what "surfing" - what Internet can actually be used for! It's amazing! This particular little "blog entry" is using a thing called "Blog Entry" available via UBUNTU, like about 36,000 other little logicials and apps - all for free - of course! If I live to a bi-centurial level (I hope for your sakes that this will not happen) I'll never use all of the things available. But.......being of Scottish origins, I can tell you that it's a fantastic feeling - just knowing you can put two or more fingers...

Image via Wikipedia Having broken a couple of ribs whilst sneezing and coughing (see note further down the page), and still waiting for them to heal properly, I decided if it's break time, then LET'S GO....! Very shortly I'll be breaking with the Windows system and going over to "LINUX" . (The penguin above is, apparantly, the linux mascot !) Now - I've no idea what changes this will make, so - just to be sure, I'm keeping a PC with WIN XP - just in case! Frankly, I've just got rather fed up with spending most of my day trying to repair Windows errors, updating, and being constantly asked if I wouldn't like to buy WIN 7! No - I wouldn't like to buy anything, and Linux , they tell me - is free! Image via Wikipedia Since the Google o/s due shortly (?) uses the Linux shell, I'm hoping that by then I'll know what I'm doing-at least a little bit! Never too old to learn, I just hope it's worthwhile, since ...

Let's wait and see what exactly they have in mind for us! all........! Google to introduce its own OS later this year Late Tuesday night, Google, the company that became a tech giant through search and advertising, announced that it's branching out into an unrelated direction, the operating system business. It will release next year the Chrome OS, a free competitor to Microsoft 's Windows operating system. It will be targeted at Netbooks , a class of small, inexpensive computers, although eventually ...

Cheap - in fact mainly FREE: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8139711.stm Google is developing an operating system (OS) for personal computers, in a direct challenge to market leader Microsoft and its Windows system. Google Chrome OS will be aimed initially at small, low-cost netbooks , but will eventually be used on PCs as well. Google said netbooks with Chrome OS could be on sale by the middle of 2010. "Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS," the firm said in its official blog. The operating s...
