Obviously this depends on your type of Internet Connexion. The slowest - "Dial-up" seems to take an eternity, and sometimes it really does take an eternity. Mrlemarquis has done a little investigation, for you, using his own Sites (you know-the ones you always go to) and using his own Connexion (ADSL at 100Mbps).
