Go here to read more from 'mr le marquis' https://sites.google.com/site/ianwmitchellswebsite/ Oh those Communists......! Adventures of once upon a time The People’s Republic of Yugoslavia – Opatiya and Riyeka. The first time we went to this (still) charming part of Europe,  was completely by accident. We were living in West Berlin at the time, and had been there  for a couple of years (see earlier articles) and like most of  “ West Berliners ” we loved the place, but needed the occasional  trip out of the closely guarded confines of the Western part of  the city, and having to deal daily with the Eastern countries   way of living, we had lost a great deal of our natural suspicion for  the Communist countries. An unexpected period of holiday from work left us with the choice  of going somewhere, or staying in West Berlin, again. As chance would have it, my wife got hold of a brochure from one  o...

different internet things.....

There are so many things on the internet that it's sometimes difficult to figure out what to concentrate on! This is one of them....gifs work, they don't on Facebook! Google Shared publicly   -   Yesterday 17:00   #Doodle4Google Just one month left for K-12 students to turn their daydreams into doodles for this year's Doodle 4 Google and have the chance to be a Doodler for a day. Grab a sketch pad and get started:  http://goo.gl/QsRbMU #doodle4google It is to be found on ' Google+ ' or by clicking above - a sort of creative competition. On the subject of Google+ - it is difficult sometimes to understand the use, but it is worth investing some time in  learning, particularly because it has the great advantage over  ' Facebook ' in that the ' gif ' images work on Google+ but not on  FB! Another advantage is that gif images work on Google+ but not on Facebook.....for exam...

The Prisoner in Cell Number……… ( for www.marquisdugalipot.blogspot.com ) I tapped, as usual, nervously in my crease block, and awaited the next delivery. When it came, it was such a loose ball, that I was pleased to dispatch it high and long to the boundary, forcing the Umpire to lift both hands, and signal yet another six runs. The surrounding fielders threw looks which would have killed, but I didn’t look, I was too busy getting somebody in Uniform from the spectators block, the higher ranked the better, to go and ask – “Can we have our balls back?” This was Spandau, West Berlin , cricket balls were rare things, and I had just hit the last of our supply over the boundary wall. Six runs – yes, but into the closely guarded confines of Spandau Prison , at the moment guarded by our Russian “allies”, to join the other 10 or 12 balls I had already put there! Simply climb over the 3 different barbed wire peri...

Harry Ramsden's at Leeds  Posted by Ian W. Mitchell   at 2/20/2005 12:20:00 PM    0 comments                Links to this post posh chip shop   you can tell from the 'y'...! AS PROMISED. When I was younger, still had some hair, many years ago, people used to send me Valentine's, birthday greetings, bottles of wine!! ('scuse me, Beatles). They also used to take me to institutions called: "Fish and Chip shops". These places were all over, were of all imaginable shapes, sizes, snobbish, low-graded, luxurious, unusable and cockroach ridden, BUT they all had one thing in common, they were all temples of worship to that dish known simply as 'fish & chips', sold in a shop/restaurant/snack bar normally known as a 'chippie' (hence my mate in ( )'s interest). Now everybody, but everybody had their own favourite, and I recall even before setting off in a charabanc (yes, they called the motorised vehi...

oh those English.......

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scotland/scottish-politics/10634941/Three-main-political-parties-unite-to-deny-a-separate-Scotland-the-pound.html...... The three-party plan prompted claims from  Scotland’s Deputy First Minister  that the  British Government  was trying to “bully” Scotland into voting against independence in September’s referendum. Nicola Sturgeon  said: “This is a panic move which will backfire spectacularly. “People won’t take kindly to the  Westminster  establishment ganging up to try to bully Scotland in the decision that we are being asked to take on the referendum.” We Scots are a proud people....English politicians want an antler in their best part? So - according to the English politicians, if  Scotland  votes for  Independance , they will not be able to keep the pound sterling........2 points to be noted: a) They wouldn't need or want to, they would have the euro... b) Very  Democrati...

What you say - tulips already....? Yep, but this is because I have some very, very good friends who knew that I like these things (because I had seen them at their home and had commented on them) so - they brought them as a seasonal present...... What is different about them is that they are made from WOOD SHAVINGS, painted by hand.......cool isn't it, and nice to have such friends! wooden tulips.jpg These pictures were sent with Picasa , from Google . Try it out here: http://picasa.google.com/ Related articles Picasa's recent update including Auto Backup shows that it needs to be unified with Google Photos (jordanjettblog.wordpress.com)

Hi! Welcome back......  So - what has changed? Apart from 13 it's 14...the weather is great or not.....take your pick  depending on your part of the globe. What's in store for the future....? Well - you can put your faith in these things,   but somehow or other it seems to me that when they fall out of the big bag there are only ever 2 of them, and you need 6! You could try this  experienceastrology.com but there is no guarantee...!   All in all, you just have to take it all as it comes, make the best of it and get on with it!   If and when you're close to the brink, just tell all those who annoy you to 'go to hell'   maybe they will, and leave you in peace to get on with the year of 2014. There are the 'usual' things you must 'comply' with such as the annual event  ..enjoy it, and before you know where you are, it will be back to.... ...it's called 'the cycle of life',   and takes care of everything....so don't wo...
