No Christmas Story!

Snowboarding 2The family have asked me to inform you all that there will be no Christmas Story this year.
It had been planned to tell you all about our adventures in the snow, since we had all been invited to one of our relations, who lives in the mountains.
That would have been quite an event, some of us having never seen anything higher than the Pic St Loup, and that only from a distance!
We had to cancel our holiday, since Grandad (who didn't want to go anyway) took a bad turn, and will spend Noel in hospital. We're not sure, but we think it was the idea of pastis with no ice, or maybe the fact that he is used to the temperatures of +12 to +15C, and not the promised -25 to -30C!Shivering
The rest of us found his actions just a little exagerated, but as things turned out, we couldn't have gone anyway, 'cos Dad lost his Driving License, for a period of 6 months! This was due to Pastis WITH ice, but not enough water!Shiver
Since Mum went in a huff with him, and refused point blank to drive anywhere over 50 metres high, this meant that even the local hill was out of the question!
It didn't matter that Grandma offered (between wiping her runny eyes) to drive us all there, because, in-between time the kids had (one after the other) come down with some mystery illness (Dad said he hoped it was the plague) which necessitated 24hr care and attention, and they weren't about to give up such a cosy situation too quickly!Sleigh 2
The Doctor has said that it would do us all good to go to the mountains, with good air, to which Grandad said that the air would be "foreign", and in any case he couldn't get a surgeon to cut him open quickly enough, he didn't want to go to the bloody mountains, he wasn't going to go to the bloody mountains, he doubted if he would EVER be able to go anywhere else EVER again. (To which his son-in-law muttered something about "thank gawd for that", and his daughter broke down in tears, to be comforted by her Mum, who said that the silly old sod had been promising her that for years, but had never kept his promises). Grandad stormed off in a tizzy, fell down the stairs, broke a leg, and is currently in hospital, awaiting heart and fracture surgery!
Dad, seeing all this, and realizing that the care and attention of his sick offspring looked to be coming towards him, decided to disappear to the cafe, and we haven't seen him for 3 days!
No doubt all this will somehow sort itself out just before Christmas, and we will, doubtless, end up with the "same procedure as last year"! So there we are, non of these clean open-air sports for us, and no Christmas story for you!! Skiing Ice Skate Snow Mobile . Happy Christmas, all the same!
