Special-Speciale "Coupe du Monde-World Cup"
I guess most of you don't even know that the "World Cup" is about to start!
I thought a "special" would be quite appropriate.
Like many of you, I have access to Satellite programmes, but unlike many of you, I use them!
Jumping between French/English/German/Spanish/Italian etc programmes, I'm having a ball of a time. At the moment, I'm on the German programmes, after all, it's all happening over there, and it is quite unbeleivable what is presented. Even if you don't understand the language, you will still get the drift! The programmes are available on Astra, channels ARD, ZDF and RTL, on your decoders Astra, channels number 344, 361 and 341-just type the number into your decoder and you will be in Munich, Frankfurt,Cologne, Hamburg etc.
At the moment, the full start programme/ceremony is about to start (on ZDF= channel nr 361 Astra).
A few of the events I have watched today consisted of something for everybody, from regular special gymnastic programmes to do in the half-time breaks, between peanuts, crisps, beer, wine.
To keep the ladies happy, there are cooking (a menu for every nation taking part in the competition) and stories about German ladies decorating the living-room, or the terrace, or even the allotment garden with flags, bunting and TV's.
Special WC Paper has been produced, with all the different flags, photos of footballers (wipe your b-m with Maradonna, Beckham, Beckenbauer and all the rest), stories about 40 British bobbies (peelers) in the "easy to recognize" yellow plastic pullovers' - imported to Munich and elsewhere, to combat any possible hooliganism!
A magician, who, with the aid of various snakes, sniffs (with seeming pleasure) old, used football boots, shirts and probably other used items of famous, active and inactive footballers, and who finally comes up with the absolute end result - only he won't tell us who is going to win, that is put into an envelope, sealed and locked away until the end of the competition.
It appears that 15 milliarden (I think that is about 15 thousand million = 15,000,000,000) people are going to watch this 1st match - worldwide! All that to see whether goals will be scored and a winner found!
What happens if no goals are scored, not even in penalty shoot-outs, is not clear. In any case, my feeling is that, like me, people who like football, and even those who don't, are already winners! In place of "elderly" films and unamusing comedy TV programmes, we've got something LIVE. and depending on your country and it's presentation of events, we've got a load of stuff to fill in the gaps between matches!
Visitors, tourists, friends, foes and all others, take care if you want to come to mr le Marquis du Galipot's home (over the next 4 weeks) - don't come without good spirits (in the bottles and in the heart) and choose very carefully your time of visit! Look at the TV programme first of all!
You all know what a football wall looks like, but did you know why?
The picture before this article shows you the reason!
Have a good World Cup, or a good time over the same period, and I'm looking forward to seeing many of you very shortly - in July and August-and even September, prancing around, like my mate Chippie, in his sexy shorts in the sunshine!
