Soccer This morning, sales of Sunday newspapers exploded in a certain region of England! Certain pages were cut out carefully, and framed with care and attention,Cheers parties were held and amid great celebrations, the framed newssheets were hung on the family walls for eternity. An event of this magnitude will probably never happen again in this lifetime, and many years from now, when the paper on the wall has turned yellow or brownish with age, people will say proudly, and with hand on heart - "I was there".

Portsmouth are TOP of the Premier Division, the absolute best in England, at least until this very afternoon. Nothing of this nature has happened since HMS Victory was chugged into the port, and started earning lots of money immediately!"Kiss me Hardy" was changed to "Kiss me Hard and long" and local people started investigating - trying to find out exactly what part of their body was meant by "Hardy" - just to avoid any possible confusion with the Tourists. Tourist money YES, but not at any price! All that was a long time ago, and slowly all the tourists descended from the unending Car Ferries, and barely giving Portsmouth a glance, parted in all directions.

A breath of new, clean air has arrived again - at least for some hours!

As 'Arry said, "I hope people don't get too carried away with this, we've got some good players, but I don't quite know where they are".

Never mind, in these days of woe and war, any reason is good for a celebration, and I bet that all the people of Portsmouth no longer talk about Russian roubles - at least not for a few hours!

The couple who are portraited here, have probably already packed their bags in Madrid!
