Bigger is better?

According to the Television this morning, there are problems regarding the UK Police and rape cases.

They (the police) are not doing their job, apparantly, and are not supporting the plaintifs in such cases.

I suppose it must be quite difficult, if a young lady like the one shown screams "RAPE!!!!" (I don't think she would but should one beleive her? )Maybe, maybe not, but as I understand it, the necessary laws are in place, and need only to be applied. I do wonder, however, what consideration is given to the alleged rapist when the whole thing turns out to be a complete hoax or attempted blackmail, as was recently the case with a well known UK football professional. Mud sticks, we all know that, and even I look at the footballer concerned in another light, although maybe a more sympathetic light than before.

Will the Press be as headline mad to inform us of his complete innocence, or will it just disappear, as usual.

As I understand it, the Home Office (well organised as it is) has promised the creation of a further 40 or so highly qualified posts within the Police Force to deal with the cases of alleged rape. I doubt not that there are many rape allegations completely justified, probably many more than are prosecuted, but there are equally many accusations which have no foundation, and some poor guy (or even gal in these days) is now languishing in a prison cell.

In any case, 40 more posts, as we all know, BIGGER IS BETTER - we only have to look at the ruins of a society on the other side of "the big pond" to know that!

On the whole, you can see my reaction to the news!
