Hospital Bed4th February, 2006. One year ago, today, I was obliged to give my beautiful body into the hands of what I hoped were very capable surgeons and nurses!Nurse

It is now time to give a "progress report", after the triple by-pass operation on the 5th February 2006, at Montpellier.

I still have many tests on a regular basis to do, blood, arterial scans, medecines (9 a day) and various other items, but in general, my only real problems are in the "wiring" used to hold the rib cage roughly in place, whilst it heals. I can feel the two sides of the rib cage moving, and in humid weather, the wiring contracts, and that HURTS! For that reason I must still take pain killing medicines, which I try to keep to a minimum, since they can make one dependant!Medicine

As they say, it only hurts when I laugh, when I sneeze or when I cough! They tell me this is due to the nerves not being repaired yet, and this may take a very long time!
Messy Sneeze Of course, I was obliged to make certain changes in life style, but from being very stringent at the start, I have been able to relax a little, and take up older habits again, habits which (if maybe better not to take up again) are things which make life livable. They are controllable.

My biggest problem, strangely, came from the very Hospitals themselves, who demanded sums of money (justified at law, but impossible to pay by me) relentlessly, causing a great deal of stress and anxiety, which of course (according to the Doctors) must be avoided!

Finally, I think I have been able to satisfy their demands, at least for the instant!

My "diabetics" have also been cleared up! Effectively, I did have a slightly higher count of glucose (all sorts of reasons are possible) and I took some medecines for a couple of months, whilst insisting I wasn't diabetic at all! The specialists finally had to admit this, and the medecines were stopped. I still test my blood, myself, on occasions, and up till now (over 6 months or so) nothing special has been recorded!

It seems that (according to the medecine men) I have the heart of a young man, so I'm afraid that there may be a good chance of my carrying on to annoy and bore you for a few years to come!
