Tips can be given about how to approach your problems, and through Telephone and/or Email support you will be able to have a "helping hand" at your fingertips.

TIPS: Simple things, easy to forget! Form E111 from your Health System before you start Holiday! If you are coming to France to live, then a different Form will be required. Information from your Health Service. Using your "VISA" and "Euro" credit/debit/bankcards gives you automatic insurance/assurance on items bought, or free travel insurance, including anullation of flights/ferries etc. Inform yourself at your Bank before leaving. Unfortunately the British must continue to pay Bank Charges on Cash withdrawals in Europe, not being in the Euro zone. Don't forget that these can be expensive. Better to withdraw MORE in one process, than to withdraw smaller amounts 3 or 4 times (each one will be charged individually!)British BANK CHEQUES are rarely accepted in France, and if accepted are subject to a charge!

Special tips for people coming to LIVE in France:
Since 2004/5, there is no requirement for a Residence Permit in France for Citizens of European Community member countries. A valid Passport is required.
Your Tax position has to be cleared by the French Authorities, even as a PENSIONER (in France the Tax Offices are VERY slow!). You can visit your local "TRESORIE" offices, who normally have lists of main Govt Tax offices in the area.
People over 60 years of age can apply for exemption to the TV & Radio Licence - "Redevances" - fees (now incorporated with the Local Tax bills -"Impots Locales"). An application can be made also, for exemption to the Local Tax bill (this depends on your Income).

Leute die alter sind als 60 Jahren, koennen die freisetzen von Rundfunktgeburen beantragen, und eventuelle Befreiung von Lokale Steuern (Dies hangt von Einkommen ab). Alle diese Antraege muessen beim richtigen Amt gemacht werden. Ihrer "Tresorie" kann Ihnen eine liste, mit addressen, geben.
