INTERNET SEX OR VIOLENCE?

The question below is a perfectly valid one, and there is nothing at all to PREVENT such an action, except you – yourself!
All you have to do is refuse!
I doubt that you will!
Unfortunately, the same thing applies in other aspects of “Surfing”.
I watched a report about “the dangers of the Internet”, and although a lot of what was said was acceptable, it was also very easily avoidable!
One of the heated topics was the inevitable “sex” sites and the dangers for our poor children!
Well, just the other day I watched one of these “poor children”, sitting all on his own, in front of his big brother’s PC, all alone with the world of Internet, and he knew how to use it!
Mum + Dad had, of course, forbidden (most strictly), Junior - from going “on-line” by himself, but control it…….?
Well, of course Junior had picked up some words, here and there, and he knew what a search tool was, so the two went together!
In fact, he wasn’t so much interested in “Sex Sites”, most of them being difficult to understand for a 5 year old, and often covered with disconcerting bright red XXXX’s, enough to put anyone off!
No – our 5 year old had heard about “Chat” – had even seen it written, and whether he knew what it was, or thought it was all about Cats (he is French, after all) remains open!
Now that set me thinking!
Probably much worse than explicit Sex Sites that do at least warn you (even if you’re of an age not to be able to read) are these things:
Well you sound cute! I’m 14 and a fitness
What you do after Freak!
School? I go to the gym!
The next thing will probably be – “can we meet up somewhere?” or “what kind of boys you like?”
Leading onto possible serious situations!
Worse than Sex Sites, I think, are the multitude of violence orientated sites, from Games through Videos, to how to make a Bomb and where to put it (unfortunately, they never tell you where they should put their home made bomb).
These violence orientated Sites glorify any form of violence. Note one thing – they don’t ever say that “violence hurts” – otherwise no 5 year old would go near!
Nice to know how to rip off somebody else’s head – but just leave mine alone!
I think, personally, even if it is not in the “highest moral tone”, I would still prefer having a tree branch telling me where to go, and what to do, than to witness decapitation (it all looks like a great game), with all the arterial blood pumping associated!
Still – it’s rare to hear of 5 year olds raping or violating girls, women, other boys, animals or anything else! More the reverse in fact.
On the other hand – violent acts are on a regular daily programme, so I think it’s obvious where the problem lies!
FIRSTLY – with the Parents!
(said tree – don’t know what it is telling us to do! Maybe it’s a cricket Umpire!)
And here are the parents! I’m not too sure if the message is quite
correct, but if so, then it all leads to a sort of “legalized” violence!
