    By Jove, that sent the ball a rolling! I would have answered earlier, but it took me an hour or so to read your last missive! I understand your sentiments, and my modest offering of this article on the Blogsite at least achieved, partly, its goal - You read it! That makes one more click, and another 0.00023centimes to my name! If it goes on like that, I should be able to offer you those famous Black Puddings (Boudin noir), together with some Tripes de Caen (for everyone present, of course), preceeded by some lecker Squid in batter on our next meeting!

I must be honest and say that even although I did go to a "semi public school" (that's what they called it) I never developed a taste for this strange "sport"of bickering!       

'Twas only later that I found out what it reminded me of - that 30 minute or 45 minute period of every day accorded to French children, just before bedtime, called "fada" or "fahdah". Before bed, they are allowed to kick up merry hell,, thus getting rid of over-energetic powers which may disturb their sleeping powers, and thus disturbing the Adult's "Apero" time.

Can't, for the life of me figure out how you are supposed to ADVANCE when you must pass BACKWARDS - and that with an article called a ball (which it isn't, 'cos a ball is ROUND) which has a mind of it's own, and goes not only forwards, but backwards and sideyways as well!

There ain't even a goalie! When I did play (once or twice in the Army) I  just kicked the damned oval thing over the crossbar, from all over the park, which upset some crazy old "purists" of the game (who only watched from the stands), who talked about "running" or something stupid!

I pointed out that I had just scored around 30 points - again - and (at the time) still had all my teeth, and brains!

Scrum rhymned with "yumm" for me, but I had no intention of becoming scrambled brains for the pleasure of some purist!

I regret to say that the Americans, whose sports I tend to scorn, have got the right idea - they are allowed to bring on a "specialist" to kick the object over the unguarded bar and retire, gracefully, to his pint - ready for the next time!

There we are - Welcome to the astounding world of Blogging! Actually, there are some wonderful writings around on these things, mine - of course - being among the best!

Good books? Well now, I reckon my Blogs are good books, you just don't have to buy them, or turn the pages in bed!  Guaranteed you won't drop off either - too exciting!

The Bank must be happy too, although I think you could have done better by paying ALL your funds into the "(iwmpop) Bank" - which I have just created on a new and novel principle - Incoming payments accepted - outgoing requirements refused! Interest held to a maximum of 0,00% , making a happy Banker - ME!
