Crawling the kerbs....

It's strange how ideas change!

A long time ago, people living in "residential" or "commercial" areas of Cities, Towns demanded that the speed limits should be respected, but that vehicles should NOT "crawl" along.

The so called "kerb or kurb-crawlers" of the epoch were actually automatically suspected of being people searching for some form of "contact" mainly of a sexual nature, homosexuals or male "customers" of female prostitutes .

Now, in AD 2008, here in France, people are calling out for a speed limit, in certain areas of towns and cities, NOT exceeding 20km/hour.

The reasons are admirable, less accidents etc., but in effect, human nature being what it is, I think there is no doubt that within hours of legislation being put in place, homosexuals and prostitutes will take up the positions they held on the pavements - years ago - again..!

It's a fact of life, when someone has an idea, someone else immediately seeks the ways and means to turn it to their advantage!

The silly, "rebel" ones, as in Professional soccer - have you ever noticed that when a corner is awarded, on the FAR side of the field from a linesman, the player NEVER places the ball in the semi-circle as required. On the other side of the field, where there IS a linesman - he does..!

Must make him feel better - just to cheat a little!

There are countless examples, some serious - some stupid, all with the intention of breaking laws or standards for personal benefit.

There we are - that's life....!
