More news for your security

The above image is a screenshot of an illegal (illegal because it didn't ask me...!) "Rootkit" which installed itself on my PC some months ago. I detected and eliminated the thing (From Windows-supposedly to help me to use their .NET Passport programme) using "AVG Antiroot Kit".
If I mention this, it's just to show how easy it is for almost anyone to install something on your PC - without your knowing. It's also just as easy to get rid of it once you know it's there! Incidentally - NOT having this rootkit hasn't made the slightest difference to my .NET Passport services...!

As you know by now, I'm always looking for news or changes (in general for FREE products) which can help me, and probably YOU as well.

1. Security: http://news.cnet.com/8301-10805_3-10102707-75.html

This link (click on the title or copy/paste) will take you to an article concerning a product I used in the past (for the free trial period). It is from Microsoft, and is unexpectedly being dropped by them.
probably wasn't bought by enough people, but the good news is that Microsoft have decided to create a NEW - and totally FREE programme for PC Security which will be called "MORRO".
It won't be available until mid 2009, but this link gives a report about the
"whys and wherefores", and you can keep it on your favourites, and do a search for the programme next year.
The original programme worked very well, and scanned for all sorts of naughty things, quite quickly. It also was able to "repair" the problems (spy's, bugs, virus, rootkits etc...) effectively.
The new one may be even better, that's why I'm taking the time to tell you about it!
(for your PC safety)

2. Security again:

If you haven't got "CCleaner" or something similar (or even if you have, but like me prefer to have a "second opinion") then here is a tip (I use it at least once a week-and it seems to work): "Advanced WindowsCare V2 Personal" (It's free, although one site I went to DID ask me to telephone a number to get a product key) - Just Google search it.
It's a quick programme (quick when one thinks of how long normal AV scans take),
and it's free.

3. PICASA 3 :

For those of you who, like me, use photos or images often.
A sort of "advanced Picasa 2" with many new features, such as creating movies with music etc. Yes - it is in the Beta phase, so errors can happen, but in general it works well!
Again - Google Search it!

So there you are, (iwmpop)mrlemarquis is thinking about you all - AGAIN....!
