Seems there has been an accident in the Motor Business! It's nothing serious, just a couple of thousand Milliarden (that's round about $2,000,000,000,000,000,000:01 - but then the $ isn't valued as it used to be ).
Now - instead of using this great chance to avoid the catastrophy previewed by all the experts, the same experts are going to advise paying!
They started by telling us that our overfull roads and parking spaces were killing the planet, and we would have to do something (expensive) about it!
SO - instead of stopping
production of more planet killing monsters, they want us to subsidize them - even more!
Tell me - what use is it to put a monster that's going to kill you in the end - back on it's feet...? Did David do it to Goliath...?
Why, tell me, can't this money, if it's available, be used for new industry, new products, and preferably ones which won't kill us all now - or later?
It's all most strange, the powers that be are able to find this "phantom" money for such a project as is proposed, but are unable (or have been up till now) to find a lot less for other projects "Earth friendlier".
How can it be that black gold guzzling, nausea spitting machines will not be outlawed and replaced by other possibilities - developed from other power sources, paid for from only SOME of this financial aid?
If the same experts are right, then we've only got around 40 to 50 years worth of black gold left anyway! We'll probably use half of that time, and half of the resources in fighting over it, instead of developing new means of moving around.
The last war was about black gold, and the next war will probably be about simple straightforward H2O - you know, that clear translucent stuff that comes (still) out of taps.
I understand that "Hydrogen" has something to do with both power, movement, water and many other things, so why not go all the way in this direction. At least one could use the H-bomb as a last resource!
Personally I'm not really too interested, I've got no kids, in 50 years they would probably be dead anyway, and I most certainly will be! It's just that I hate the idea of all that money being poured "down the sink", and the same people being favoured.
There are already more than 50 times too many vehicles - try walking (they say it's good for you) or try using (if they exist where you live- unlike here) PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
Here to land, people won't use Public Transport unless they can park their cars right at the tramway start/finish point - and that free of charge preferably!
Governments are offering money to Motor makers, money to Banks, money to individuals who get rid of their old car models and buy a new one!
A great help! The person who wants to profit from the "change model" money won't do so, because he can't get a loan from the Bank who prefer to keep the taxpayer's money loan for their own purposes, and the Motor makers say they need the taxpayers loan money to pay the Banks and other debts - or "GO BUST AND SACK EVERYBODY" (Apart from the Directors' naturally).
Isn't that approaching blackmail...?
How about a National Car Company, owned by everybody, controlled by everybody - 1 vehicle, and 1 vehicle only, for everybody above legal age, with the means to pay an Assurance policy, a Driving license and the Petrol etc...,at least for a period of time, during which Industry can find and develope these "new power sources".
The Chinese are doing it with children...!
My God - I can hear the screams already - "What am I going to do without my enormous 4x4 wheel drive when it's school coming out time....!"
There would probably be a lot fewer crushed and flattened pedestrians outside the Gym Centers.....!
