There are, apparently, thousands of people, all of the female sex, out there, who are (and I put it bluntly as usual) as thick as the proverbial..

"La baise-main" or "Küss die Hand, madame" or simply "Hand-kiss", is something which is still a part of politeness - respect - and what is left of chivalry!
Now - there are certain (and they are not few in number) females, who adore this custom, and who feel simply great, on the rare occasions nowadays, that they are subjected to "the treatment". They are the one's who know what it is all about, and for the others, I publish this VERY SHORT GUIDE on the kissing of hands!!
(It could be of use to people like your average male etc):
(excellent technique - normal, it's Scots!)
1). WHY DO IT? You could make an impression, or simply make someone happy.
You could stamp your way of life, and your way of seeing things, or you could simply be expressing your pleasure at seeing someone for the first time or for the 1000th time.
2). WHAT DOES IT IMPLY/SUGGEST or otherwise bring to mind? Absolutely nothing abnormal, sexually deviated.
It does not suggest that a "proposition" is being made (unless the guy performing wants to suggest something, by holding on too long, too hard, to the proferred object!) Certain females could find the act as a recall to older and better times!
3). PERFORMING THE ACT!
As a male, the act of "hand-kissing", is firstly, and most importantly, recognizing the femininity of the person opposite. I have, for example, many female contacts where I know the ladies well, personally, and my procedure must be:
a) Hand-kiss, then -
b) The normal cheek-kiss(es),depending on the country, the region, etc.
If you don't know the lady concerned personally, then the "hand-kiss" is all you should give. What matters most, is that YOU understand that your hand-kiss is simply a mark of acceptance for the femininity of the subject, and has nothing to do with your opinion or intentions towards the same!

It is, of course, desirable, that the receiving person knows this - something which is rare in our modern times!
Anyway, at the end of the day, I know many females who now, on seeing me in the road/street/wherever, stretch their hand out, like an Empress or something.
My life - they even come across the road!
Of course they receive their little hand kiss - for their femininity!
It makes them feel like a Queen - at least until they get home to him indoors!
Incidentally, the lips should NEVER touch the object, but should stop some 1- 5cm before the subject!
