PICASA - from Google, and just right ...

PICASA - from Google, and just right for you....!

Devilishly good,
Google have a whole range of programmes, just right for you, free of charge, reliable, all more than capable of replacing permanently those expensive things from Microsoft Windows and other suppliers.
I'd like to try to introduce you to "Google Picasa" - a photo editing programme that's been around for some time, getting better and better at each new release.
It started from an innocuous little programme that was called "Hello", and has just released - this last week - its latest offering "Picasa 3.5".
Astounding all the things you can do with this latest programme, but obviously you have to start by downloading it!
Just type in "Picasa3.5" to your search bar, and choose the entry accessing the download.
Oh-all right then - I'll make it even easier for you- here's the link:
The programme itself is not heavyweight, around 34MB, and takes around 5 minutes on a reasonable connection to download and install.
The programme is versatile, and can be used off-line for most tasks of photo editing.
Once you've installed it, the programme, when started, will scan automatically those parts of your Hard Disk which you have chosen, normally the "My Photos" and/or "My Documents".
Any image files it finds will be imported to Picasa, and then the fun starts....!
(Incidentally, each time you open the programme, it will automatically check if any image files have been added and import them)
All this does not affect the speed of your PC should you open Picasa and then go to another page to do something urgent.
Yes - it pays to take time, as much as possible, to understand all the things you can do!
Colour, brightness, red-eye and hundreds more "normal" changes are the simpler processes, done in seconds.
Run "diapos/slideshows" with or without music, a feature called "timeline", photo montages, text onto photos, balloon cartoon effects, and a whole heap of other things are simple manipulations.
Printing your photos is simple, in a whole range of sizes and quality, or ordering "on line" prints (payable) if you haven't got a printer is done easily.
Most interesting is the "send by e-mail" function, since the programme "compresses" photos to a size easily sendable, chosen by you. This feature works best in association with a "G-Mail" account.Sharing your photos, or just keeping them safe is also easy - just transfer them from Picasa to "Picasa Albums Web" - where YOU decide whether to make them public (for anyone) or PRIVATE (for selected people) or not at all, maybe they are on the Albums just to keep them safe, and always accessible by yourself as well!
If you want to let others see your photos - all you have to do is send a link from the Web Album page to your invited person - easy, isn't it....?
Picasa also takes your videos present on your hard discs, you can play and edit them in Picasa, and importantly - send them via e-mail, or publish them direct to "UTube" - You can take films from your Webcam or Camcorder, directly into Picasa, edit them and send them wherever you wish to!
It's impossible for me to go into ALL of the features and possibilities of this magnificent programme, just let me say that it's worth every penny/cent you DON'T PAY...!
You have to go there yourself, take the time to understand a bit, and you'll be mesmerised at how simple it all is!
When you download and install Picasa, you are immediately taken to a Web page, where links to information and videos as "learn courses" are proposed - it's well worth the time taken.
Practice makes perfect, and maybe next time, I'll be able to look at those "unopenable" photos from Holland.....or wherever!

Enjoy the experience - it really is one.......!
