Skiing in Languedoc-Roussillon
Did you know that there are two wonderful secret skiing locations in the Languedoc-Roussillon? Both cross-country and alpine skiing is available on the slopes in the Cevennes Mountains in the Lozere department, around one and a half hours from Nimes and Montpellier, and in the Eastern Pyrenees west of Perpignan. Both areas offer great value for money, family-friendly winter sports. Visit our Languedoc-Roussillon Skiing Guide for more detailed information about the slopes and faclities available.

Investing in a Vineyard

We take a look at what it takes to acquire a vineyard and to make it a profitable venture. Read more...
Sample the region's "black diamond"
A few dates for the gourmet's diary: the black truffle, also known as the "black pearl" or "black diamond" of the kitchen, will be the highlight of this winter's culinary season at Villeneuve-Minervois in the Aude, where the traditional annual truffle markets will take place on the 26th December 2009, 16th January and 6th February 2010 from 9 am. Accompanied by pomp and ceremony, an artisan produce market, cookery demonstrations from local chefs and truffle dishes served at the local restaurants, this is a serious gastronomic event that should not be missed!
Leaving the Languedoc-Roussillon
Helena Frith Powell lived in the Languedoc for eight years and in that time wrote four books, as well as frequent contributions to many of Britans newspapers and magazines. Helena has recently moved with her family to Abu Dhabi. Before she left she wrote an article on her time in the Languedoc which you can read here.
