Life at home has become on the one hand more complicated but on the other more luxurious since the arrival in Europe/France/Vauvert, of this thing to be avoided, called COVID-19...!
We were told, at the beginning of the year, that We were an 'endangered species' - Elderly, Cardiac, Asthmatic and other more or less serious illnesses, and We had the instructions to 'Stay at home and safe lifes'
(I guess more or less our own...!)
Well - that's what We did.
The French system arranged it for Us that the National Health Services (called 'Ameli') arranged and paid for household cleaning services, the employees of who also went and picked up our foodstuff orders from local Supermarket 'Drives Carrefour' or other, in their personal vehicles,
brought everything back and We sorted it out.
It was also arranged that our 'GP' or Family Doctor could be contacted by telephone, and He came quickly to our home and gave Us new medicine prescriptions if necessary, which Tina scanned and sent to the Pharmacy/Chemist by e-mail.
They generally delivered them to us a couple of days later...!
These medicines were then arranged by our charming and beautiful Nurses who came daily to our home, particularly Fridays being the 'medicine arrangement for the Week day' and shower day...! Any supplementary problems could be reported to these Nurses, 3 in number, using the PC App 'Facebook', or the conventional telephone...! At the risk of being shouted at, I would like to post a photo of our Nurses. Very competent, very beautiful, very pleasant in manner, they were also taken in charge by the French National Health Services. Unfortunately I haven't got a reasonable one, so you'll have to put up with one of the arranged medicaments they use...!
So the French System took care of everything, We didn't have to leave the house but a couple of times in the year of 2020.
The odd couple of times We had to leave the security of home, for RV's for X-Rays, or for RV's at the hospital in Nimes with the Cardiologist, we were taken in charge again by the Services Ameli with the Taxi being put at our disposition.
Once or twice, and once or twice only, did We have to walk up to our 'GP', or General Doctor's office, and that was before He had arranged House Visits to Us...!
All in all, this system may cost a lot, but it works. We're both still alive - Haven't been out a lot, but didn't need to go out a lot!
By the way, Mine is paid every month to the French Services by the German Services, who I am a Pensioner with. Tina has nothing, or very little, to pay - She is Italian...!
France is beautiful, has systems that work, weather is normally gorgeous, what more could We want...?
