Ever noticed the increasing number of people who profess to being "beleivers", and who find themselves ( in later life, after a whole life-time of preaching at others that a better world and a better after-life will be theirs in paradise) screeching and hollering with an immense fear as their lives come to an end?
I would have thought they couldn't wait, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Maybe they are not quite as sinless, or beleiving, as they gave us to think, or maybe it is because they are fearing the long tale of deeds done in their short stay, which apparantly will be recounted and put up for "accounting" before the key is put into the large lock on the gates of paradise, and they can pass to their .........
From hundreds, indeed thousands, of people I personally know, or have known, who consider entry to be a simple formality, I can only say that if they are accepted, I don't want to go! Another existance, this time for eternity, with thei...

Now I know nothing about what goes on inside a Computer. I'm not too bad at using the things, as my mate Chippie knows to his cost, and I suspect I'm not alone in this.
There are 3 types of people it seems, those who don't know and don't care what goes on inside intel, and don't care either, so long as the damned thing works.
Then those who don't care if it works or not, so long as they have understood the inside of the intel but will never use it.
Then those who don't give a damn outside or inside, using it or not, and think that the best thing anyway, is simply not to commuicate at all!
The latter I have a great knowledge of. Explain to them that they can join a different provider (for telephone calls, on-line and other forms of communication etc) who will give them anything up to 95% cheaper rates for the same service, and they will look at you as if your are barmy!
Not a question of price, they won't say, but that is the fact.
Actually, the t...

Here we go again - New Year 2005 not even arrived yet, and the first cut in pension already arrived!
Not happy with tinkering with the pension system and payments, the (Labour/Socialist) govt of Germany (from whence Mr. le Marquis acquires his wherewithall to live) has now decided that people like myself should have the right to pay more for a State insurance, providing for the case of incapability in old age. This system is only applicable in Germany, and in other countries who apply a similar policy (to my knowledge Scotland, and possibly some remote Scandinavian states). Should I, or any one else in a similar position, fall incapable of tending for oneself, then I would be obliged to return to the Fatherland, and demand the application of my insurance. Even then, I don't know how they would react, and as someone incapable of tending for myself, how am I supposed to make the demands posed, and how am I supposed to arrange the home here in France?
Already they have supressed the...

Everything seems to be as normal for this Christmas day! The cure has rung his bells - in vain!
As the French say, "pas un chat dans les rues"(not even a cat in the streets). Everything has obviously gone off in the style described in the articles "Noel- part I, II, III".
All is deserted, even the cafe's are closed!!
Lovely Christmas day, but a bit cloudy. New Year's eve and Day is the one they are all waiting for now!
Good Banking sense?

It's nearly the end of the year, and as every year, I went through the sometimes amusing, more often time consuming and infuriating process of trying to get a little pocket diary, for the new year, out of my banker.
Now, bankers are not noted for giving things away, except to themselves, but this procedure every year has annoyed me for so long, that I must now complain!
These little pocket diaries are useful - at least I use it all the year long, and each page is crammed full of things to do and not to do, where to go and where not to go etc.
My bank, and probably all the others, send automatically, the larger luxury version to what they consider to be better customers. I think I pay far too much to my bank every year in charges/interests etc and am therefore a good customer. My bank obviously thinks otherwise.
Consider the procedure of yesterday. Enter, wait 1/4 hour, and finally catch the manager who happens to be passing.
Hello! Have you received the diaries yet? Who are y...
