strange publicity tactics.

Well - I do my best, and I don't really think it sucks, but I had a strange experience recently. I received a mail from something which will remain A. Nony. Mouse claiming to represent his client who shall also remain A. Nony. Mouse! This client, a bank, had requested that a link to his Bank be removed from an article on my blog.   Since I make a point of promising to review any requests of this nature, I checked through, which took me quite some time and didn't please me  but I finally found the link, which had come, in fact, from the programme ' Zemanta ' which searches subjects and photos as you type, and they are inserted as above, in blue or orange......OK - no problem, I simply took the link off, but WHY should a well known Bank have an agent who occupies himself uniquely with little known blogs like mine? All very strange particularly since ' Wikipaedia ' shows a link and a page about this bank! OK - so I'm happy to have had 40,000 visitors, b...

Dictatorial....

Image
Mr. le Marquis du Galipot (iwmpop) iwmpop@gmail.com For your pleasure! - Pour votre plaisir! - Fur Ihrer Unterhaltung! Dictators and other maniacs ! In light of recent events in Pakistan and elsewhere, it seems that these Dictator style maniacs just never learn, or they have learnt, and have now just accepted that the eventual inevitable fall from the top can be cushioned, very favourably, by making the necessary financial arrangements whilst at the top? It is otherwise difficult to explain why – since Hitler – there have been so many of them, all disappeared, all gone, and with them, enormous sums of money given, generally, as “ Foreign Aid ”! Let’s be honest, if you know you will (not that you risk , but as a certainty , YOU WILL) be chased out of whatever situation you have created, or even killed, it is to be presumed that you have some form of contingency plan , for yourself-your family-your “friends” etc.. for afterwards!...

fun time.....

Yippee, soon it's voting time here in France . Local Elections and later (I think) European ones. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party, but which one? The Socialists   are out every Saturday at the market, giving away red roses, but only to the women....that's discrimination! Why can't I have one...? I've got one of these   but I want a rose... In any case, the ladies only eat them..... In France there are quite a number of parties, in fact almost as many as cheeses produced   but only one gives something away! Maybe a lump of cheese COULD sway my judgement.....with a piece of bread, of course. Women in politics in France probably started with this one (Marianne) but there have been a few since then!  Nowadays she adorns the basic French postal stamp.  Here are relatively up to date stats, and this tells a lot more   Thing is - it scares the hell out of other women like wives, as well as male pol...

Internet's birthday......!

Image
http://www.nethistory.info/History%20of%20the%20Internet/origins.html If you're reading this, it is because you are on the Internet , and me too! Now don't be fooled by those people who say 'Internet? Not for me' What they normally are saying is 'I can't understand computers, never mind Internet!'  True - designs like the one above look compicated, but give it a chance! You'd be amazed at who uses the Internet and for what.....  why, and how much they can save with a connection every month!   Let me give you a typical example of every morning's events. Switched on and checked my mail.(free)......read my local newspaper (free), wrote a letter to try to find out why my insurance was costing more (free), looked at a few jokes to cheer me up afterwards, wrote to my coffee company to find out why they hadn't charged me (I shouldn't have written that one)..(free) - went to my Bank and transferred some money from one acount to another (free) ...

an older military tale.......

Chez mr.le Marquis du Galipot. An "older" French account! This fellow was long gone, but he reared his head, strangely enough, in a sleepy little West German town called Detmold. The Royals ( 1st Dragoons ), known generally as the "Royals", and now a part of the well known " Blues & Royals " (mounted cavalry, although I rarely saw a horse) were arranging their affairs, to go to war - in France!   Actually, it was a new NATO arrangement for so called "desert training" and we - almost 500 soldiers, a couple of dozen Centurion tanks - Ferret Scout Cars, and all the rest of the paraphenalia necessary to pass a couple of months in the Sunny South of France-these were our 'affairs'!   I, for my part, was convinced of my intentions during these 2-3 months, I was going to get a suntan!  Going out in stifling heat onto the dusty flat plains of the "Plateau de Larzac " in a Centuri...
