Just to tie up all the loose ends (and there are a lot) in my mind, I thought I would bore you with a few facts I have come across during my voyages into the depths of the current European social system which is responsible for me. Apart from Chippie, Tinkerbelle,British Bulldog,Wacky-backy and all the rest, I am supported by two systems, German and French. Germany for my Pensions, and France for my health and social matters. In the former, they seem to take a great delight in retarding every December the payment of my pensions, and in the latter - well, I'm still finding out! Up until May of this year, I was the proud possessor of one of those famous "top-up" or Mutuelle private health policies. Expensive, and at the end of the day of no real use, since they paid a maximum of 300% on top of what was paid for by the National system. This meant that for Dental work (the best example) when the bill was for 1,000euros (a "normal" amount for these bandits) the Natio...

Imagine - Harry's back! After long voyages, Harry Redknapp decided that home's the best place, and has returned to Portsmouth, my mate Chippie's town! One year to the day that he left the sinking ship, he has returned to bail it out! All we want to know know, is just how much of the abnormally HIGH betting on his coming back (15 million GBP apparantly-3 times the amount placed on the Grand National) did he get? More importantly, how much of a percentage did my mate Chippie get? Remains to be seen if Harry changes his mind about Russians, or if he'll end up in Kettering Town!

The family have asked me to inform you all that there will be no Christmas Story this year. It had been planned to tell you all about our adventures in the snow, since we had all been invited to one of our relations, who lives in the mountains. That would have been quite an event, some of us having never seen anything higher than the Pic St Loup, and that only from a distance! We had to cancel our holiday, since Grandad (who didn't want to go anyway) took a bad turn, and will spend Noel in hospital. We're not sure, but we think it was the idea of pastis with no ice, or maybe the fact that he is used to the temperatures of +12 to +15C, and not the promised -25 to -30C! The rest of us found his actions just a little exagerated, but as things turned out, we couldn't have gone anyway, 'cos Dad lost his Driving License, for a period of 6 months! This was due to Pastis WITH ice, but not enough water! Since Mum went in a huff with him, and refused point blank to drive anywhere...

I promised, so here is the first update. I received the information, today, that the dossier applied for, by my doctor, on my behalf, had been accepted. This means quite simply that I am recognized as being the "proud" possessor of an illness/illnesses, serious enough to be considered as 100% re-emboursable on a permanent basis, which means, in turn, that I no longer must pay anything for to and from Doctors/Hospitals/ Treatment Centres etc. I will no longer have anything to pay for treatment or medecinal aid in hospitals or in the in-patients or out-patients services related to these illnesses are free of charge also! Tests and examinations are covered by this measure, as well! The Doctors, the Nurses and other specialists can go begging, but not at my door! (If I had I'd give!!) Next thing? Stay alive until my Doctor has arranged whatever is to come, examinations etc within a hospital surrounding, in greater depth, probably NOT before the New Year (2006)...

I love the end of the year! I can say to myself, "jeez, got another one out of the way" and be astounded that it is true! I also love those little things that are sent to completely "knacker" our plans for a peaceful Christmas! You know, those "utility" bills, planned to fall on our doorstep on the 15th December each year, demanding payment by the 17th December, or "WE'LL CUT YOU OFF". Oh dear, give me the chance to meet the people concerned, together with my surgical scissors, and I'LL cut something off! What I love, each year, are the little, useless messages sent with the bill. You know, the water company, who tells you that you have consumed twice as much as last year, although you've showered only half of that which you did last year, but they have a couple of tips for you (you've still got to pay immediately, mind you!). For example, your water may be expensive, but don't forget that 50% of your town's piping is out...

Typical action from one of the "old Vauvert families" - The law doesn't concern him, he simply removes the barrier, still can't get through (because he can't drive) honks for 5 minutes to derange everybody living in the quarter (he lives there too!) decides to take another road (which he could have done half-an-hour ago) but of course doesn't think to repair the damage he caused. Result? No barrier so all the cars try to pass, can't, and klaxon all day long! Thank you, sir, my 2 days of quiet gone-all because of what I call a b*****d!
