I recall we used to have to play games (in Hallow'een parties held in the CHURCH hall- not forgetting that this festivity is strictly a pagan one) like "dunkin' for apples, or trying to eat apples covered in jam or treacle hanging from a strin, with our hands tied behind our backs (images of bondage fetishes come to mind - in the church hall...!) OK - I took part, because, as the Pastor/Vicar's son, I had to, and anyway, it was the period of rationing, and this was the only time we got to eat things like apples or jam/treacle! Since then, the Americans have taken it over, and it appears to be very popular over there. In France, it had a relatively short popularity, about 4 years worth, before being thrown out the window! In Britain, I'm not sure, but I think it is no longer so popular, and certainly not thids year - no money, only BAD credit...! B...
