European Commission - Your Europe - Citizens - Cross-border credit transfers in Euro

Aft er years of  suffering, every November (which is the WORST month of the year), I finally got down to nitty-gritties, and investigated various things. I found, finally, this page (given in the link). My French Bank (C d'epargne) will now have to watch out! Shame my printer is out of order, or I could have posted a copy, in French, to them, since their site doesn't allow you to send nasty things (for them) like this. Apart from the Banking problem, this link gives you an immense amount of information about living permanently in Europe, and you can change the Language easily, to show your litigation (or other) partners what the FACTS are!  From Studying, through Living, to Bank,Tax, and other necessities of life - in Europe! In all countries which are EU members, and in all their languages. http://ec.europa.eu/youreurope/nav/en/citizens/services/eu-guide/credit-transfers/index_en.html   Don't forget either, that the link http://www.webspawner.com/users/g...

What the hell is going on?

I bet my mate Chippie is scratching his head! What's all this stuff in foreign languages? Christ, I'll have to get "her indoors" to translate this lot! Never mind Chippie, it's what they call progress! I don't like it either, but there we are! "Beta" systems that make it almost impossible to publish correctly, where you can't move the pictures up and down the page (like before), and lots of other things I can't do anymore, which made life simpler. I reckon Google are working on a programme to make it all payable- in which case you can say bye-bye to Mr le Marquis! Chippie - just think yourself lucky I can only speak the three languages! Oh - sorry, did I not tell you that some German articles will be coming up? Now I know that will interest you, because you can't ask the way to the Post Office in German yet! Sausages are not "sausaages" and not knowing the word for Sausage in German (where there about 30,000 different types) is...

Fwd: ist trials for sites in French-trial fwd to Blogspot.

V auvert, France. Novembre 2006.

Comical isn't it? Remembering.

Image
Remember, remember - that is a part of November as well, at least a British November! So let's do some remembering! I recall, way back, in Paisley, Scotland, having a lady called Cathy Stewart (and I have no reservations about naming her, because it is my way of - belatedly - thanking her) who functioned as a sort of "nanny" to myself, and then to both my sister and myself, during the many absen ces of our parents, busily looking after their "flock". This lady was ancient when I knew her, and was, logically, more ancient when she visited us many years later in London. I never knew her age, but I knew that she was the one who introduced me to exotic things like grapes and pineapples - no not in tins, real ones. She took it upon herself, for many years, to send us Comics every week, together with a couple of Post Office Savings book stamps - remember them? Extra ones' at Birthdays and Christmas times, never forgetting - EVER! Thank you again, if you are still ...

Fwd: Adventures- to be published-photos-later

Is this working? Only way I've found for the moment! ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Adventures – not so long ago! I remember a time (like many of you, without doubt) not so long ago, when a voyage was an adventure! In the space of a couple of days, within Europe , we changed systems, languages, currency, standards of living, among many other things! I recall , when even a trip to France was fraught with problems, difficulties, amusing situations, dangerous situations. Starting with the very vehicle we were using, which at the period were not really up to scratch for such voyages. Their reliability was limited, if you were coming from UK, the steering wheel was (and still is) on the wrong side of everything (roads, petrol pumps, motorway payment booths etc)- sometimes one wondered whether the petrol was the same, and the guaranteed breakdowns meant that we made (reluctantly) contact with the indigenous natives, always to be considered as dub...

Fwd: Adventures of once upon a time-Croatia

Image
Have I finally found a way of doing it? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Adventures of once upon a time (II) The People's Republic of Yugoslavia – Opatiya and Rayika . The first time we went to this (still) charming part of Europe , was completely by accident. We were living in West Berlin at the time, and had been there for a couple of years (see earlier articles) and like most of "West Berliners" we loved the place, but needed the occasional trip out of the closely guarded confines of the Western part of the city, and having to deal daily with the Eastern countries way of living, we had lost a great deal of our natural suspicion for the Communist countries. An unexpected period of holiday from work left us with the choice of going somewhere, or staying in West Berlin , again. As chance would have it, my wife got hold of a brochure from one of the West Berlin holiday companies, an organised coach holiday company, and we fi...

More November problems!

Just to make sure I don't forget that it is November, my pension hasn't turned up, they say because the 1st was a bank holiday! Every 1st November is a bank holiday, haven't they figured that out yet? Wait another couple of days, they say. Meanwhile, we'll be using your money (and that of all the other people in the same position, who live abroad), just so it doesn't stay idle (they don't say!!) So I don't forget November, I did the wrong thing, and updated this blog spot to the Beta system, making it impossible to transfer articles directly, or at least I haven't found the way to do it yet! So, to keep you up to date, here are a couple of addresses - just click on them, maybe they will work (unlike the last one!) - wait - and Voila!!???? Multiple articles (if it opens) - http://uk.msnusers.com/MyWebDocuments Individual articles: http://docs.google.com/view?docid=dchktwkh_62dd246b OR ...

Article- "Adventures of once upon a time"

This is a link to a couple of articles that I can't get posted directly onto Blogger! Click on the link/title to read them! -- My web page: http://www.webspawner.com/users/mrlemarquis/index.html

My NOVEMBER!

Image
They tell me (at Blogger) that the only way to do this is to send a link, so here we go! Either click on the link field above, that is the title (with a little orange arrow) or type simply this link into your address bar and click go! http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dchktwkh_62dd246b Hope it works - bear with me, it's not my fault, it's all Google! Should never have changed from the normal blog to beta blog!

Lament!

Image
In November nothing works! That has been my experience over the many November's I have experienced. I know people are saving up their good cheer for next month, and that communicating is difficult in November, when nothing seems to work! You can check this out if EVER I manage to post the article which is supposed to be in place of this one! But then, it's November - nothing works! Christ, give ourself a kick in the worthies, and make November a month of the year, and not a catastrophical! I'm trying to do my bit!

modernisation!

Image
As you can see from the previous posts, I ain't too pleased with some of the new things, so I thought - OK can't beat 'em - join 'em! I've gone all "Beta"! New browser "Mozilla" (kept the old one just in case) and very shortly I'll be changing the look of the Marquis du Galipot blog page! Tradition means a lot (particularly on aristocratic pages) but a little brush-up (or down) to knock the cobwebs off won't do any harm, so don't be surprised when you enter one of these days!

Modern Times

Image
It's all getting complicated! Seems that they've modernised things, and as usual they no longer work! Used to be you put your talking smiley on with a click, now it seems you have to put a URL with it! They put little red dotted lines under words they consider badly spelled - or not spellt in the US English fashion! That's new as well - cheeky s--ds, correcting MY English. Example? SPELT has little red dots under it, but SPELLED doesn't. How about tomatoe? Nope - no red dots - wait a tick, its just suddenly got measles! - tomato seems to be ok! Then again, OK isn't OK (at least not when it's written - I avoid the word spelt - ok) What happens if I spill the spelt? Do I have to spilled the spelt, or spelt the spilled? Either way, I don't care, go away, leave me alone to make no mistakes in my own way! HERE ARE MY SMILIES - hope they work this time! Well, I now know that they won't work, because you would all have to update your version of Smiley! Great ...
Image
Hello all, Right then here we go! I have no idea whether it will work, but let's try inserting a voice message! A couple of you will have heard it already, but bear with me - we're only at the trial stage. It could be amusing, what with Smilies and my my comforting voice at the same time (well-almost!) These 3 will (or should) give you some sound anyway (just to make sure that your speakers are turned on!) If it doesn't work then you'll have to give me a traditional phone call! DIDN'T WORK! -Iwmpop 10/24/06, 5:15pm Try cut and pasting!! Well-I've tried it all, but sound files are not accepted! Just have to carry on sending them individually! Never mind - someday or other it will be possible! Seems to me I've read about how to do it in Blogger's FAQ's - I'll have a look! Anyway - the three smileys should give you the gist!

Double Dutch, Dutch Courage and all other Dutch treats! Now, I have some Dutch friends (at least I count them as friends!) and when I heard the expression "Dutch courage" on a radio programme the other day,I got to wondering why the Dutch are so often referred to in this fashion. I have never found them particularly overindulgent in the consommation of alcohol! Certainly, they have a large quantity of specialities in the alcohol cupboard, from almost pure alcohols, through egg liqueurs, down to the nowadays impossible to get by without "Heineken" beer! (I expect a free pack for the free publicity - although I personally have always preferred the smaller brewery "Amstel" products!) Admittedly, their language is almost impossible to speak or understand, even for myself who can at least speak various German dialects, but the Dutch (being very inventive and clever) realised that they would have to be fluent in English to advance in world trade! Wind...

There is always the question, in my mind, of "common sense". This is something not very common anymore, as the latest batch of upsets, arguments and "news" stories shows quite clearly. Somewhere between Turbans, veils, bangles and beads, crucifixes etc., exists (I presume) a person, who can make life easy or simpler or much more confusing and difficult, depending on the mood of a moment. Of course these religious questions have no basis on "common sense", religion itself not being based on good common sense, but rather a question (as I understand it) of personal belief. Everyone should be, and generally is, allowed their own personal belief, and these are grouped in what we called generally, World Religions, or "organized" religions. This is fine, so long as the starting point is not forgotten - i.e. that all these things are based on individual and individuals. Unfortunately, it would appear that as soon as one declares oneself as a "p...

Many of you have probably noticed that my literary talents are languishing, on this page, for the moment! The reason is quite simple, I am trying to set up another little thing on the Internet, and this is taking up a lot of my time. Why don't you all have a look in, and give me a little feed-back, with any ideas you may have. The entry following this one is a start, but if you follow the link: http://www.webspawner.com/users/graniteassistance/index.html you'll find the rest (in English as well), together with the links to other sites run by Mr le Marquis du Galipot enterprises! Once I've got the thing arranged to my satisfaction, I will be able to return to entertaining you in the long, dark, cold winter months, direct from my chateau!
Nach lange, lange Wintermonaten, dürfen Sie wieder reisen - ab in die Sonnige Süden, und Sie machen neue Freunden unter die Franzosen? Was sollten Sie machen, was sollten Sie NICHT machen?

It is difficult, I must admit. I want to get back to work, seriously (or otherwise) on my blog, but somehow getting rid of the holiday feeling is more difficult this year. Maybe it's because of the fact that I never really expected to see the holiday period again, or it may simply be that between Dogs, Cats, VERY sick ladies, still present tourists, difficult times for so called Family members (albeit once removed - divorce is in the air!!) all these things reunite to hinder the publication of those so magnificent work of literary genious you are all used to! I've sharpened my pencils often, but every time I hit a key on the keyboard with my pencil, the bloody thing breaks! Maybe I'll just try without the pencil, and the rubber (to correct my rare errors) doesn't work either! The other day I tried to file various things from the screen, but my little "hole maker" (you know, to enable you to put things in a file) couldn't pierce the screen, so I gave up ...
